Carlton Arms Hotel

The room was spacious and clean. Very warm. I had my own private bathroom. Coffee available in the morning. Easy access to the various places. Empire State Building was a 20 minute walk.

I love the hotel and it was nice to interact with the people who work at the front office - they are very welcoming and provided additional items we needed in the room as requested. The whole artistic vibe of the hotel and the unique rooms are really neat. The location is great for people coming in at Penn Station and there is also a parking garage very close by if you're driving. Close to subway stops to easily get around Manhattan or head to Brooklyn. Lots of good food and walkable neighborhood. Felt safe and the price point is unbeatable in Manhattan.

If you thrive on FUNKY, this place is for you. Feels a little like some kind of Halloween Haunted House. A bit dingy and clearly has seen better days; it's NOT the Holliday Inn. But a great adventure, and I loved the art...like walking through a huge canvas. Staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was quite comfy. Subway c. 3 blocks away. Plenty of dining options.

The stay was exactly what I wanted and expected from the hotel: if you love tonnes of character, creative environment and an easy going atmosphere it’s the place for you. It may not be “spotless”, but I couldn’t have cared less, it felt much like a home from home, the creative clutter and general atmosphere felt like my own home. Beds were comfy and the room had simple furnishings that did the job, I didn’t need anything else. The neighbourhood was excellent and so many amazing things to be found a very short walk- it was noisy, but what would you expect from New York? I slept with my window wipe open because it was warm, but the sound of the street is all part of the experience of being here. If you’re looking for memorable, charming stays over luxury then definitely go for it!

We stayed for a night with my friend and just loved the design of the place and the vibe of our room. We were given the opportunity to chose between two rooms. Each room have their own vibe. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Offered us to leave our luggage if necessary before checkin and after checkout. Location is perfect. Rooms are definitely not soundproof, but the place was rather quiet overall. We loved it !
